This is a horizontal and vertical addition project in the Design Development phase for a beautiful Spanish Colonial house in Calistoga.

The design of the current proposal, shown in the first half of the images, is inspired by the beautiful traditional style of the existing house. The rear yard expansion is a reinterpreting the traditional Spanish Colonial elements in a new modern way that flows seamlessly from the exterior to the interior space.

These are 3D exterior studies exploring the first concept that we developed a few months ago.

The 3D concept rendered in the 2nd half of the images is inspired also by the beautiful Spanish Colonial style of the existing house, but explores a more daring twist. The concept creates a juxtaposition between: (1) the solid street facing walls with small arched glazed openings and (2) the more open large glazed rear yard facing walls where the smaller arched elements are reversed and are now solid protruding walls.
